013 – Woodland colors

The time when we could all happily get squeezed in a baby-sized seat in an airplane seems gone for a good while. So much for travel photography.

Luckily, wherever home may be, there is  (almost) always some woodland nearby.

A stroll in the well maintained parks, or a hike in the rougher woods can be very soothing for the soul in these times of anxiety.

Woodland photography is a rather difficult genre, I believe. Most of the time, I end up disappointed by my images.

Composition can be tough. light is often low, and colors vary greatly, depending of many factors like season, weather, and the time of day.

I often, though not really consciously, try to capture a dominant color. Other times, I just enjoy the way mother nature puts everything in place, and generate harmony through chaos.

Here are a few pictures taken in the woods, of different colors, and at different time of the year, in -very- different places.

Earth tones are present all year round…

50 shades of green…

From gold to red

Color contrast…

Blues of the woods…

Post prod special….

Woodland abstractions

and of course, the usual B&W photo as a final point.
