010 – In praise of … Silhouettes

Sometimes, we don’t have the luxury of choosing where to place the subject realtively to the light, and we have to deal with a strong backlighting to take a photo we like.
Sometimes it is the effect we intend to use in our image.
Sometimes there is just not enough light to see any details in the subject.
Sometimes it is a mistake in the settings, giving an unexpected result.
Whatever the reason, we end up with silhouettes, who can be as evocating and story telling as a more classic photo.
If you enjoy silhouetting, a french photographer has a lot of silhouettes in his great work, well worth a visit of his galleries.
Here is my humble take on silhouettes….
Silhouettes can be colourful, and may be built around cold tones …

….. or show more warmth…..

As usual, Black & white works fine too…
